Case Manager, Andy: (206) 231-0856
In the US, over 50% of former prisoners become re-incarcerated within 3 years of release. A significant factor here is the lack of support when it is needed most. Without support from someone you trust, returning to life outside prison can be overwhelming. That is why Chief Seattle Club works with members even before release to help create a supportive and successful transition into stable jobs, homes, and lives.
What we do:
When a member is first released from prison, our team is there with a “Day One” package. We take them to get a fresh set of clothes, a cell phone, and a bus pass. Once the basics are settled, it’s time to make a plan. A caseworker sits with each member individually to determine personalized next steps for employment and housing options.
Many people recently released stay in temporary housing. Our transitional home for members, the Welcome Home House, features 5 rooms and a 24/7 in-house Manager to help facilitate healing and community. Just recently, we hosted a traditional crafts night and paint elk hide drums!
Our team also assists members during their court visits, helping them prepare for the hearing, sitting in for moral support, and sometimes even speaking on a member’s behalf to help the court see each member’s personal progress since release.
We have officially found and started our new re-entry house: The Welcome Home House!
Our new Welcome Home House features 5 rooms for recently released members, and a 24/7 house manager to help build community, structure, and support for our relatives just getting back on their feet.
